⏱ 20 minEasyServes 4
Savory, protein-packed tacos made with Crave TVP. Seasoned just like ground beef, these plant-based tacos are so satisfying that even meat-eaters will go back for seconds.
Ingredients
- •1½ cups Crave Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP), dry
- •1¼ cups vegetable broth, hot
- •1 tbsp olive oil
- •1 small onion, diced
- •3 garlic cloves, minced
- •1 tbsp chili powder
- •1 tsp cumin
- •1 tsp smoked paprika
- •½ tsp oregano
- •Salt and pepper to taste
- •8 small corn or flour tortillas
- •Toppings: diced tomato, shredded cabbage, avocado, lime, salsa, cilantro
Instructions
- 1Pour hot vegetable broth over dry Crave TVP in a bowl. Stir, cover, and let rehydrate for 10 minutes.
- 2Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 4 minutes.
- 3Add garlic and cook 1 minute more until fragrant.
- 4Drain any excess liquid from the rehydrated TVP, then add to the skillet.
- 5Stir in all spices — chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper.
- 6Cook, stirring frequently, for 5–7 minutes until TVP is lightly browned and well-seasoned.
- 7Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or directly over a gas flame.
- 8Build tacos: spoon TVP mixture into tortillas, add your favorite toppings, and finish with a squeeze of lime.

Pro Tip
For the best texture, let the TVP get a little brown and crispy in the skillet before serving — this mimics the texture of browned ground beef. Rehydrating in broth instead of water adds depth of flavor that makes all the difference.
